Tom Schreiner's Final Hydrologic Adequacy
Review Comments dated January 3, 2001.
Item ] -Granular bedding and filter material source for various barrier configurations shovm on
Exhibit CS ~. The granular bedding material is expected to be pit run materials that will be
designed when size distribution information for the base material is available from one of the pits
at the Mamm Creek site. The filter material will be si~~d using methods similar to those used to
size filters around drain pipes. The filter material will range in thickness from 9" to t/x the riprap
thickness. If no suitable filter material is available on site then a geotex[ile fabric will be used.
The geotext>7e fabric, if used, will be installed per the: manufacturer's reeommenelatioa,. A copy
of the design specifications for the bedding and fiher material will be submitted to DMCr for then
review and approval prior to beginning construction
As a point of clarification, not all of the barriers shown on sheet 2 are going to be used initially.
At this time, it is projected that Details A (upstream end} and C (downstream end at weir} would
be installed in the RRA. The tetnaining details have been submitted if river bank stabilization is
needed or if the native material barrier (Option A) on the upstream end nerds improvement.
Option B is an armored barrier that would be used to improve the Option A structure if needed.
Since the materials in Detail A aze native materials left in place to create the upstream barrier, tto
reclamation would be required.

"fhe estimated amount ofmaterisl in [tte weir construction is 5,778 eu_ yd. of fill and 1733 cu_ yd.
of riprap for bank armoring nn the main river side of the weir. The armoring is extended fifty (50)
