A 50 ft. buffer zone free of mining must be left
between the mine and the Arkansas River and Piaxwell Creek. Any discharge from the mine must
meet standards set by the EPA and Colorado State Health Department. If the operation removes
material only to the waterline as stated in the mining plan, the goal of ponds for fishing and
waterfowl production will not be met unless the operator intends to seal the pit so it will
hold water. The pit should be LO-12 feet below the waterline and slopes no greater than 2:1.
Slopes should be 3:1 from the water line to a depth of 4 ft. and all slopes above waterline.
Top soil should be spread to a depth of 6-8 inches over the slopes with the exception of 2 ft.
above and below water line. This strip should be riprapped to protect the shoreline from wave
action. The seed mixture proposed for reclamation should be adequate. In a letter from Mr.
Randall Champion to the Mined Land Reclamation Division, Mr. Champion states he has given Mr.
Pridemore permission to leave all excavated areas open and the open pits will be rehabilitated
at a future date for fish ponds. The reclamation should be completed in a timely manner
(within 1 year after mining is completed) and bond held until that time.
P-_~ared By: Randall Hancock, District Wildlife Manager Date: 4/6/84
S_S-.it[ed B}': Bob Davies, Wildlife Bioloeist Date
T:.is state-ent is void if not process-d within 1 year.
.cis a-a1}•sis does not constitute ap;roval of application.
