3. Replacement Sources
Replacement water to compensate the out-of-priority depletions caused by the gravel
mining operation and pond surface evaporation will be provided by drying up historically irrigated
pasture land and recharging the surface water historically used to irrigate those lands to the gravel
pits.
Ditch Structure Prlorlry No. of Amount Total
Rlght Name ID Number Prlorlties Owned Amount Comment
- - -- - ----- ~ - -- - In DRch - ~ ~ -- --
--- - ---- cts crs - - -------
1 Fish Ditch 200636 34 209 2 9.3 9.3 ell shares
2 Rio Grande Canal 200612 26 Various 30 16.1 1 648.5 70 shares
Table 2. Pertinent Characteristics of the Surface Water Rights Owned
The proposed plan for replacement water to compensate the ground water and stream
system for depletions resulting from evaporation and mining loss shall include direct flow water
rights. The applicant owns all of the Fish Ditch and 70 shares in the Rio Grande Canal. Table 2
illustrates some of the important ownership characteristics of these water rights. The applicant's
non-encumbered deed is contained in Appendix A to demonstrate proof of ownership. A dry-up
covenant agreement has also been included. Water Commissioner diversion records are contained
in Appendix B and summarized for each ditch in Table 3.
Run Ch aracterlsllcsto r Ditch Flo w Characterlstl cs For Entlre D llch
Average Average Average Days In Days In
First Last Days Dry Wet Average Dry Year Wet Year Average
Ditch Run Run Water Water Water Annual Annual Annual Daily
Name Day Day Carrietl Year Year Flow Flow Flow Flow
da tla da da da acre-N r acre-tt/ r acre-ftl cfs
Fish Dilch 0527 10/07 147 55 317 1 697 260 2 707 5.63
Rio Grande Canal 07131 10139 239 180 345 180 605 bb 448 342 474 380.96
Table 3.
