SLURRY WALL LINED GRAVEL PIT RESERVOIR
Hall -Irvin Construction and Rocky Mountain
Consultants, Inc. (RMC) provided complete
design /build services for a slurry wall liner for a
gravel pit reservoir.
The site is located within the Denver Metro Area
along the South Platte River. The work consisted
of lining a working gravel pit with a 13,000 -foot
long slurry wall. The slurry wall had an average
depth of 30 feet with a maximum depth of 40 feet.
The total finished reservoir capacity was
approximately 2,000 acre -feet.
The work was performed for Cooley Gravel
Company (Contact: Rick Mergens at 303 -989-
0300). The work was completed in June, 1994.
The reservoir was purchased by the City of
Thornton in 1996 (Contact: Mark Koleber at 303-
538- 7406). The reservoir was declared to be a
lined reservoir by the State Engineer's Office of
Colorado in 1996.
