y:~~~tis ~~.a~:
where erosion has exposed this material directly under the gravel it exhibits a
• carbonaceous character. There are some indications it was possibly capped by a
soil. However, these indications are very conjectural, as the evidence is unclear
and scanty. It is clear, however, that the gravel overlies a material which is of
a very different character, but not of a character which would probably cause
severe problems in the revegetation of the soils replaced on top of the underlying
material.
CROSS-SECTIONS: Included at the end of this exhibit are four computer generated
cross-sections of representative portions of the property where extraction will
occur. These sections are keyed to the section lines shown on the Mining Plan Map
(Exhibit C). Section A extends along a more or less north/south line through
Phase I. Sections B, C, and D extend along west/east lines across Phases II, III,
and IV.
• The sections show the existing topography as well as the projected bottom of
the gravel layer as determined by drill holes. The drill hole locations shown on
the sections may not indicate the exact location of the drill hole, but the
section lines were established so they would pass within 100 feet of drill holes
which had been completed prior to selecting the line locations. Nevertheless, it
is appears that the gravel layer is fairly continuous.
These sections do not indicate the depths of overburden or soil, but are
simply a means to project how deep the mining will extend. In the back of the
Reclamation Plan (E~chibit E) are similar sections which show the final topography
as it relates to the existing topography. The reclamation surface usually, but
not always, follows quite closely with the projected bottom of the gravel deposit.
On the second line in the heading of each section plot is a ratio enclosed in
parentheses. This indicates the amount of vertical exaggeration which is included
• page 9 of 10 Exhibit D
