~~§~t'VErJ <br />~t1#tei'ni1 far i.ts.!i~ M~MT <br />i~"Ais±; JG7..G~3 <br />' ~ September J0, 2006 <br />David Lehmann, <br />Natural Resoun:e Specialist, BLM <br />Dear Mr. Lehmann, <br />2Q06 SEP l I P~ 4~ 02 <br />When CAM Cobrado announced their proposed expansion <br />here fs Western Colorado, very few people unde-stand that the-e is <br />already a significant coal mine north of Loma that supplies coal to the <br />r Cameo power plant CAM CoMrado is proposing an expansion mine <br />that would be called the Red Clrlf Coal Mine. This expansion would <br />' include take the current production and make it 8 million ions per <br />year. !n addition this expansion will provide over 250 jobs averaging <br />$60,000 per year in salary and benefits. <br />CAM has already purchased an abandoned bar and frailer park <br />in Loma and is renovating it. Such activities like this will increase <br />property values and will enhance the communities on the western <br />part of Mesa County. <br />1 hope this project moves forward and helps the 8LM in doing their <br />part ro supply our nation with electricity, and to keep power plants <br />around the country supplied with the low~ulfur coal they need to <br />continue providing power for our national energy grid. <br />Thank you for all the hard work you agency is doing to ensure our <br />economy remains diverse and our electric supply remains reliable. <br />Sin re <br />~~ <br />Thea Schmidt <br />Grand Junction, CO <br /> <br />Cj'rxa.~r6f ,Je-f'.
