Sox 234
Crested Butts, Colorado 81224
RE: Mountain Viev Pit
Our Fil¢: A81-2
Dear Mr. Eteher:
Ae per your request, I am sending you a summary of the Board's diecuaeion
regarding your operation.
Ae you will recall, the Board had considerable discussion regarding the
steep olopes end asked that you submit an alternat¢ reclamation plan to
protect you in the event you find out that this operation ultimately hen
lase stable slopes than anticipated.
Please try to keep the elope ae moderate as possible. The maxim: slope
proposed to th¢ Board c~as approximately 60R (30"). May I suggest that as
an alternative to a straight slope at this grade you consider including a
10 foot wide horizontal terrace along th¢ length of the elope midway. This
dill still let you accomplish what you doaire but also provide for much
increased slope arability and help inhibit erosion. Similar constructions
Y have observed in nearly identical gravels have been effective.
Also. if vegetation becomes necessary to prevent eroeioa, the following
species could bo broadcast on a ripped eloped and initially anchored with
setting.
