<br />Weed Management Plan <br />Site Location <br /> <br />The NCCI Pit #1 is a 102 acre pazcel at the northwest comer of the intersection of Weld <br />County Roads 25 and 18 two miles northwest of Fort Lupton, Colorado. It is in the East'/x <br />of the Southeast '/. of Section 24 Township 2 North, Range 67 West. The land is curtendy <br />used for pasture of cattle. The proposed use is for a gravel pit. <br />To control undesirable plants in Weld County and that occur on the property, a weed control <br />plan is proposed. Plants listed in the Weld County Code Chapter 15 -Vegetation and found <br />on the property include: Scotch Thistle, Musk Thistle and possibly Canada Thistle. <br />Management Techniques <br />The methods of control will be cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical. These methods <br />aze defined as follows: <br />Cultural -The method or management practices encourage the growth of desirable plant to <br />crowd out or discourage the growth of noxious weeds. <br />Mechanical -The method and practices physically disrupt the growth of the plant and include <br />mowing, tilling, burning, flooding, mulching, hoeing or hand pulling. <br />Biological -The use of organisms such as sheep, goats, cattle, insects and plant diseases to <br />disrupt plant growth of undesirable plants. <br />Chemical -The use of herbicides or plant regulators to disrupt the growth of undesirable <br />plants. <br />The site has a mix of wetlands and flat pasture azeas. There were no noxious weed found in <br />the wetland azeas. The flat azeas whue there is disturbance of the surface Scotch Thistle and <br />Musk Thistle were found. There is also the possibility of some Canada Thistle. <br />Wed management for the site will be as follows: <br />Scotch and Muak Thistle: <br />The site will be treated with herbicide doting the rosette stage. Herbicide may be used to the <br />bud stage. Mowing will be used, as needed, during the growing season to prevent the pants <br />from going to seed. <br />
