We oppose the reclamation permit application as it is currently written. We also wish
to point out that the City or"Durango/La Plata County, the owners of the Durango-La Plata
County Airport, as adjacent landowners, were never notified of this permit application.
Our opposition is confined to Page 9B of Exhibit E, Piedras De La Florida Conceptual
Develvpment Plan which indicates that following gravel miairg operations, 76 residential units
will b2 planned for the permit area Tire Durango-La Plata Count' Aitpvrt is strongly opposed
to any residential development of this density. This area falls within the Traffic Paaern Zone of
the proposed Airport Compatible Land tise Plan and proposed residential density within this
zone is limited to no more than one dwelling unit per twenty acres. This significant residential
encroachment onto land adjacent to a bus}•, commercial service airport is not in the public
interest. This azea is subject to noise impacts from aireraP in the downwind traffic pattern
se~rtent for landing on Rtmway 2.
The Airport has no objection to the Gravel Mining operations, per se, as long as any reclamation
permit does nut include high density residential development.
p. 1
"The only way to Fiy to the Fow• Corners"
