PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> 1. Physiographic Features <br /> Topography is moderately steep to very steep and hilly with - "~ ' <br />• <br />~ slopes ranging from 15 to 65~• At lower elevations and low <br />, <br />' <br />~ precipitation zones the site is on north and east facing slopes. s.. <br />_ <br />_ At higher elevations and precipitation zones [he site occurs on .- <br /> south and west exposures. The site occurs at elevations ranging <br /> from 5500 feet to 7000 feet above sea level. <br /> 2. Climatic Feature=_ <br /> The average annual precipitation ranges from 12 to 15 inches <br /> with more than 50$ of [he moisture falling between April 1 and <br /> September 30. The growing season starts about April I and ends ~ ''' - <br /> in late September. <br />: <br />~ <br /> July, August, and September are the months with the highest ~. . <br /> amount of precipitation. v <br /> 3• Native (potential) 1legetation <br /> This is a grassland site with small amounts of shrubs and forbs.'.- <br /> Dominant grasses include Salina wildrye, muttongrass, western <br /> wheatgrass, Junegrass, and squirrel tail. Other native grasses <br /> include Nevada bluegrass, Indian ricegrass, and Sandberg bluegrass. <br /> Forbs include onion, Hoods phlox, stonecrop, hollyleaf clover, <br /> fleabane, and aster.
