Havre Series (IIstic Torrifluvent, fine loamy mixed) <br />The Havre series consists of deep, well drained soils that formed <br />in stratified alluvium from sandstone and shale. Havre soils are on <br />flood plains and terraces and have slopes of 0 to j percent. The mean <br />annual precipitation ranges from 10 to 15 inches and the mean annual <br />soil temperature is ly2 to (F~ degrees F. <br />Havre soils are similar to Glendive soils. Glendive soils <br />have less than 18 percent clay in the control section. <br />Typical pedon of Havre fine sandy loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes, <br />is located 1000 feet north of the center of Section 30, T.SN., R.92W: <br />• Al--0 to 3 inches; dark gray (lOYR 4/1) fine, sandy loam, very <br />dark grayish brown (lOYR j/2) moist; moderate medium granular structure; <br />slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; <br />calcareous; mildly alkaline (pH '].8); clear wavy boundary. (3 to <br />7 inches thick <br />C1--3 to 18 inches; light brownish gray (lOYR 6/2) fine sandy <br />loam, dark brown (lOYR 3/3) moist; weak medium subangular blocky <br />structure parting to moderate fine platy structure; slightly hard, <br />very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; calcareous; <br />moderately alkaline (ng 8.0); clear wavy boundary.
