The mean annual
precipitation ranges .from 12 to 15 inches and the mean annual soil
temperature is ty2 to 47 degrees F.
Pinelli soils are similar to Forelle and Rock River soils and
•
are near the Forelle and Holderness soils. Forelle and Rock River
soils average less that 35 percent clay in the subsoil. Holderness
soils have a dark surface horizon.
Typical pedon of Pinelli loam, 3 to 12 percent slopes, 900 feet
east, 1200 feet north of the SW corner, Section 8, T.1FN., R.93'+~•=
Al--0 to 6 inches; brown (lOYR 5/3) loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3)
moist; weak fine granular structure; loose, very friable, slightly
sticky and slightly plastic; mildly alkaline (pH 'j.4); clear smooth
boundary.
