1/76 <br />r <br />Campspass Series (Typic Eutroboralf, fine montmorillonitic) <br />The Campspass series consists of deep, well drained soils tiat <br />formed in interbedded fine-grained sandstone and ohale.. Campspass <br />soils are on upland valley sideslopes and benches and have slopes of <br />0 to 25 percent. The mean annual precipitation ranges from 15 to 18 <br />inches and the mean annual soil temperature is 42 to 47°F.. <br />The Campspass soils are similar to the Work and Grail soils. The <br />Work and Grail soils have mollic epipedons and lack an A2 horizon. The <br />Grail occur in more arid climates. <br />• ( Typical pedon of Campspass loam, 3 to 12 percent slopes, 1800 <br />\,, feet north, 925 feet east of wouthwest corner, Sec. 34, Twp. 4N., R..93W.: <br />Al--0 to 2 inches, grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) loam, very dark grayish <br />brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure that <br />parts to moderate medium grains; slightly hard, very friable, nonsticky <br />and nonplastic; many fine and medi~im roots; mildly alkaline (pH 7.4); <br />abrupt smooth boundary. (1 to 4 inches thick) <br />A2--2 to 8 inch=_s; light bro~.rnish gra_r (10YR 6/2) loam, very nark <br />grayish brown (lOYH 3/2) moist; weak very coas~se platy structure that <br />parts to weak medium subangular blocks, hard, friable, slightly sticky <br />and slightly plastic; bleached sand and silt on faces of peds; common <br />• fine and medium roots; common fine poorest neutral (pH 7.0); abrupt <br />r <br />~~ smooth boundary.
