•
Mr. Michael S. Savage Page Seven
June 28, 1985
Peerless believes that mine related subsidence will be
negligible. If monitoring information supports this contention,
Peerless plans to work with the Division to develop a technical
revision allowing either partial or complete pillar extraction in
areas of limited overburden thickness. It is anticipated that
this technical revision would incorporate an expansion of the
proposed subsidence monitoring network in the areas of the
ephemeral drainages.
11. Therefore, Peerless does not feel that completion
of this well is essential to permit approval. It is our
understanding that this double completion well will be used for
long-term monitoring during the mining operation. Therefore,
Peerless will plan to install a double completion well in the
NW}, NW} Section 16, T35N, R10W. This well will be installed
during the late summer or fail of 1985 such that information will
be available during the spring, 1986 runoff. The actual details
regarding well completion and pump or slug test procedure will be
submitted to the Division for approval prior to installation of
the well. Likewise, upon completion of the well, all pertinent
information including water quality data, driller's logs, and
well completion information will be submitted to the Division.
12.
Response: Upon completion of the water supply well in the
surface facilities area of the Coal Gulch Mine, Peerless will
submit pertinent information to the Division. This information
will include the State Engineer number, the depth of the hole,
the driller's log, completion information, production data, and
water quality analyses.
