Location and extent of surface acreage disturbed <br />by previous underground coal mining is shown on the Vegetation Map (Map 2) and the Soils <br />Map (Map 3). <br />Existing Land Use and Land Use Classifications Under Local Law <br />The Huerfano County Commissioners in conjunction with the Huerfano County Planning <br />Commission have designated lands within the permit area and adjacent area for agricultural <br />use (rangeland). The land use in the permit area is rangeland used mainly for domestic <br />livestock and wildlife use. No commercial forestry has ever been conducted within the <br />permit area. The Colorado Coal Mining Company had submitted an application to obtain <br />a special use permit from the Huerfano County Commissioners and Huerfano County <br />Planning Commission to conduct mining and reclamation activities for the Colorado Coal <br />Mine No. 1.
