• Drill Pad is located. This revision proposes the temporary re-opening of the pre-existing
road for a period of time to complete drilling, monitoring, and reclaiming the project. No
other new roads or trails are proposed at this time. Refer to the attached EEE Access
Map for depiction of the proposed access route.
PRE-DRILLING ACTIVITIES
Prior to any construction or drilling activities, an on-site inspection of proposed drill sites
and access routes will be conducted with representatives from appropriate regulatory
agencies to discuss site-specific concerns. Applicable Road Use and Special Use permits
will be modified if required by the USFS For use of the roads. CDMG and BLM
regulatory personnel will be notified at least 48 hours before any construction or drilling
equipment is mobilized into the project areas. Construction and drilling activities will be
supervised by a project representative of Mountain Coal Company. A copy of the
approved permit documents will be available from the company project representative for
inspection. Any proposed changes in [he Project after permit approval will be reviewed
with the appropriate regulatory agencies before changes take effect.
Staging areas to be used by the drilling contractor will be reviewed with and approved by
the appropriate regulatory agency or his/her representative prior to use. These staging
sites will be used in a manner to minimize damage to the vegetation. Any surface
disturbance to these sites will be re-graded and seeded to promote rehabilitation.
• Access to drill sites will utilize the existing road to the extent possible. All access routes
will be maintained to accommodate 4X4 pickup trucks and required drilling equipment,
including but not limited to the following: truck mounted or skid mounted drill rig, air
compressors and\or booster, rig-up truck, portable water tanks, boom truck, utility trailer,
drill pipe lay-down rack, crew trucks, seophysical logging truck and mobile water
carriers.
Roads utilized in the project will be maintained with water bars and appropriate
sedimentation controls as required during the drilling phase. A D9 bulldozer or its
equivalent will be used to prepare the road for travel and assist in mobilizing the drill
equipment to the drill sites. Additional equipment expected to be used in opening,
maintaining, and reclaiming may include arubber-tired backhoe, rubber tired grader,
roller compactor and atrack-mounted excavator. The road will be maintained at a
fourteen-foot width.
Drill site pad of approximately 100 fr. x 100 fr. will be constructed to accommodate the
drill equipment and drill cuttings sump or mud pits. The Exploration Drill Pad will be
constructed only as large as necessary. Topsoil will be stripped, stockpiled, and identified
with a sign, for use in the reclamation phase of the Program. Mudpits to accommodate
drill cuttings will be constructed with an approximate size of 20' W x 40'L x l0'D.
• Water for the drilling operations will be pumped to the drill sites from the North Fork of
the Gunnison River. Alternatively, water may be transported to the drill sites with mobile
