MAC
Metcalf Archaeological Consultants, Inc.
August 13, 2001
Henry Barbe
Mountain Coal Company, LLC
P.O. Box 591
Somerset, CO 81434
RE: Proposed EEE Access Road
Dear Henry:
RECEIVED
MAR 0 4 2002
Division of Minerals and Geology
Enclosed please find the cultural resource inventory report for the proposed EEE access road in
sections 1 1 and 12, T13S, R90W. No cultural resources were encountered during the inventory
of the project area. However, as we discussed on the phone the files search ordered on August
1 Q, 2001 from the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, Denver has yet to be
returned to us. I have prepared this report assuming this files search is negative. If the search
reveals otherwise I will have to submit an amended report. Provided that the Colorado files
• search information is negative cultural resource clearance is recommended for the proposed EEE
access road.
Two copies have been sent to Julie Coleman-Pike, BLM Uncompahgre Field Office. She will
forward one copy to the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, Denver. I have also
enclosed an extra copy of the report to you in case there were any other agencies that require one.
Thank you for the opportunity [o compete this work and if you require any further assistance
please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Sincerely, -
E(lizatfeth Pennefather-O'Brien
Staff Archaeologist
enclosure
cc: .lulie Coleman-Pike, BLM Uncompahgre Field Office
0)328-6244
AX: (970) 328-5623
P.O.
