Past and recent measurements of the water quality at the outfall
~ • or discharge point from settling pond number 3 indicate that it is
well within the effluent limitations established by the Colorado
Department of Health. Table G-2 lists the results of laboral:ory analysis
of daily water samples collected by Cotter Corporation since Gecember,
1973.
Special note should be made of the fact that pursuant to the terms
and conditions of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended
(33 U.S.C. 1251 et.seq; the "Act"), and the Colorado Water Quality
Control Act (25-8-101 et. seq;, CRS, 1973 as amended), the Water Quality
Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health re-issued h1PDES
permit CO-000 1244-Jefferson County to Cotter Corporation. This new
permit superceded the original permit issued by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency.
• Cotter Corporation was notified of different effluent limitations and
conditions of the renewed permit in a letter from the Colorado Department
of Health dated Iovember 15, 1976 and received by Cotter on November 18,
1976. This fact is reflected in Table G-2 by the different monitoring
and analysis schedule employed from fovember, 1976 to present.
The effect of the re-issued permit was to change the discharge
limitations and/or frequency of analysis for certain effluent parameters
and to change the list of effluent parameters themselves. Table G-1 lists
the discharge limitations and scheduled fregency of analysis required by
the Colorado Department of Health.
Project Water Requirements
The operational water requirements for drinking and san itary facili-
ties drawn from an approved well are not permitted to exceed 15 gallons per
• minute (gpm) and usually range in use from about 4 gpm to 15 gpm.
G-4
