Dept. of N
Dear Jim:
Thank you for the copy of the memo from Hal Simpson to Chips
Barry regarding the Nelson Pit. Incidentally , the pit is in Weld
County, not Boulder County as Mr. Simpson indicated.
Mr. Simpson expressed two concerns . The first is the source
of water for dust suppression at Nelson. Flatiron can use either
of two methods to obtain this water: 1) haul water to the site
from any of our numerous permitted wells nearby; 2) purchase water
from the property owner who has well permits .
The second concern is augmentation for the evaporative loss
of water from lakes created by the reclamation plan. Our under-
standing is that the Mined Land Reclamation Board has consistently
taken the stance that it does not require augmentation agreements.
If there are further questions about our Nelson application,
please let me know.
Sincerely,
(Mrs. ) Margaret Winter
