The area requested is a; follows: S\C-4 Szction _ ~, Tott~nship 2~ South, Range 66
Nest, Huerfano Counts, Colorado (see attached map).
Thz predominant soil for dtz area to be rzdaimed is Afanvzl-\[innequa Loam (map tutu 42), 1 - ~°io slopes.
This soil has n Ecolosical Sit deserip[ion of Loamy Plains and is within VILRA (\4ajor Land Resoune
r\tea) G9.
Topsoil Removal: Removal of dte top foot of soil will be necessary to ensure adequate availability for
reclamation activities. Stockpile the [opsoil in a location that twill minimize exposure to wind and wa[er
erosion.
l:eshapin_: Lanci slopes should not exceed ?0 percent (2:1) and should be tlattzr where feasible and
prac[ical. Land slopes exczzdine the 50 percent threshold wilt be difficult to reclaim and suucntral
practices may becotnr neczssar}~to ensure a s[ablr grade suitable for seeding establishment.
Topsoil RzolacemznC Topsoil tviIl be replaced w:iformly at a depth approaching pre-disntrbance depth.
This twill bz necessary to provide adequate soil to ensure eood root devzlopment for the reveoztation
proves. If insufficient quantities of topsoil are available for the topsoiling activities it may become
necessary to bring soil from offsite to ensure the necessar}' quantities. The soi( being spread should be free
of excess debris [o facilitate planting operations.
Fertilizzr Requirements: Timino of application twill be inutrzdiatel}' prior to seedine, at the time of sezdine,
or inmrediateh' follotvin~ seeding. This twill be dependent upon [he q'pe frrtilizu and equipment used.
The rate of fertilizer application u~tl! be no less than 40 pounds of available nitrocen (N) and 40 pounds of
available phosphate (P20>) per acre. This requirenxut enn be tcaiced if a soil test shows adequate fertility
to support the vegetation rz-establishment.
Szzdine: Thz aria n ill be broadcast seeded to a mixture of site appropriate grasses. Seed twill be
incoeporated into d[e surface soil to a depth not to e.~ceed'/~ inch, by raking, harron'ine or other proven
method. Szed twill be applied between \ovember I st and .April 30dt. Seed twill be applied on a pure livz
szed per acre basil, as foilotvs: '
See Attached seeding plan.
Dlulchin~: The disnnbed aria shall be mulched using grass ha}' or cereal gain straw. -At least 50% of the
mulch by weight will be 10 inches or more in lenedt ~ The straw will be applied a[ a rate of 4,000 lbs./ ac
mininmm
Completed bv: Casey Shele}', District Conservationist
