Stock will be planted in accord- <br />ance with procedures outlined by the Colorado <br />Nurserymen Association except that stock <br />planted in rangeland areas will not be irri- <br />gated but will be planted in spring when soil <br />moisture is at its peak. <br />(iv) h+ulching Techniques <br />T+ao types of mulching techniques will be util- <br />ized at the Orchard Valley Mine: hydraulic <br />mulching (hydromulching) and Excelsior erosion <br />control blanket. All accessible areas will be <br />hydromulched with wood cellulose fiber at a <br />rate of 1,500 pounds per acre and a tackifier <br />at 90 pounds per acre. All slopes steeper <br />than 1-1/2:1 will be covered with Excelsior <br />Erosion Control Blanket, Type III, 4' X 180', <br />"Curlex", manufactured by the American Excel- <br />• sior Company, Denver, Colorado. This product <br />will be installed to meet the manufacturer's <br />specifications, with the following excep- <br />tions: <br />1. Material shall be laid on Che slopes from <br />top to bottom with 3" side overlap with adja- <br />cent material. <br />2. Erosion control material shall be held in <br />place by staples (8 gauge, minimum of 9" in <br />length) . <br />3. Staples shall be placed on 3' centers ver- <br />tically along edges and on 4' centers in the <br />middle of each strip. Also, for each 20 line- <br />ar feet (top to bottom) material will be sta- <br />pled across in I' centers. <br />In addition to hydromulching, straw mulch <br />blown or hand distributed over seeded slopes, <br />would be utilized at the Orchard Valley F+est <br />Mine site.
