SHELTON, Dlreetor
Richard D. Lamm
Ga~a~ne~ruary 21, 1985
Mr. John Carder
P.O. Box 721
Lamar, Colorado 81052
Re: Carder, Inc. "Bonnie Earl Pit", Bent County -File No. M-85014
Dear Mr. Carder: ~
The application for a 110 Limited Impact Mining and Reclamation Pe~mit for the
"Bonnie Earl Pit" has been received and was deemed complete on February 15, 1985.
This was a very thorough, clear and concise application. Clarifications are needed
concerning the following items:
1. Topsoil stockpiles should be graded with slopes 2H:1V or gentler. A
perennial cover crop should be established on this topsoil stockpi~e to stabilize
and conserve this resource. Please provide a commitment {with a p oposed grass
species) to so stabilize the topsoil stockpiles.
2. What is the distance from the Arkansas River to the propose permit
boundary? An undisturbed setback of at least 100 feet should be m intained.
3. Will pit dewatering occur? If so, describe the mechanism o~ discharge.
4. Adjacent landowners if any, must be noted on the Map in Exh~bit C, and
notified by certified mail {with proof of these notifications and he two
sequential weeks of publication provided to us before the schedule Board meeting).
5. A copy of this application was transmitted to the Division f Water
Resources such that effects of the mining operation upon the hydrol~ gic regime, if
any, may be assessed.
6. The Division of Wildlife review submitted is considered adeq~ate due to the
similarities between Sections 6 and 32. However, please note that uch inventories
should be site specific, and this "inventory sharing" will usually ~iot be
appropriate.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Camille M.
