It formed in calcareous <br />gravelly and cobbly alluvium. In several areas it formed in lands) ~~>? <br />deposits. The native vegetation is mainly grasses and scattered <br />pinyon and ~un~per. Elevation is 5,700 to 6,800 feet. The average <br />annual precipitation is 13 to 15 inches, the average annual air <br />temperature is 48 to 50 degrees F, and the average frost-free period <br />is 130 to 160 days. <br />Typically, the surface is covered with 20 to 50 percent pebbles, <br />cobbles, and stones. The surface layer is brown cobbly sandy loam <br />about 5 inches thick. The subsoil is very gravelly sandy clay loam <br />about 4 inches thick. The underlying material to a depth of 60 inches <br />is very gravelly sandy loam. Tha soil is mildly alkaline to a:depth <br />of 9 inches antl moderately alkaline below that depth. Some soils on <br />landslide deposits have a bouldery surface. <br />Included in this unit is about 10 percent shallow Rizozo channery <br />loam on ridges and 5 percent Neville fine sandy loam in delineations <br />on landslide deposits. Neville soils do not have a developed subsoil <br />and have a reddish hue. <br />Permeability of this Sedillo soil is moderate. Available water <br />capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br />Runoff is rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is slight to very <br />high. <br />This unit ~s used for rangeland, wildlife habitat, and <br />noncommercial woodland. <br /> <br />r, <br />• <br />,~Y~ <br />
