The lower part to a depth of 60 inches
is extremely cobbly sand. The soil is moderately alkaline. A layer
with a high content of accumulated calcium carbonate is at depth of 6
to 21 inches.
Permeability of the Casca,lo soil is moderately rapid to rapid.
Available water capacity is vary low. Effective rooting depth is 60
inches or more. Runoff is medium to rapid, and th• hazard of water
erosion is moderate to high.
This unit is used for rangeland.
Th• potential plant community on the Kim soil is mainly blue
grama, western whaatgrass, sideoats grama, and sand dropseed.
