•
•
•
2.04.7(1) GRODPDWIITBR IPFORMATIOP
........................................................................................ ....................................................................... ..
The Mesaverde Group and the Mancos Shale formation below are
devoid of watec in any usable quantities. The coal seams are
located in the bottom of the Mount Garfield Formation, which is
part of the Mesa Verde Group.
In 1982, Dorchester Coal Company drilled 24 groundwater
monitoring holes in the area of the Fruita Mines and only two
holes contained any water. These two were completed in alluvium
of the Sig Salt Wash located south of the mine reclaimed area.
There are no real aquifers between the coal seams and the Mancos
Shale.
Drilling of many exploratory holes in the coal seams and the
/strata above also showed that no appreciable amount of water was
encountered in any of the holes.
Since this permit is to provide ongoing reclamation maintenance
/for areas already planted, no aquifers will be affected by this
permit.
There are no known wells, springs or other developed groundwater
'resources within one mile of the permit area.
7~s/~
.2 /~?
