2.04.4 CQLTORAL AND HISTORIC RESODRCES INFORMATIOP
During a 1983 survey of the surrounding area done by the Grand
River Institute, a number of paleontological resources were
identified in the 20 square mile area surrounding the minesite.
These were old campsites and projectile points, however, none
were found in the area that was surface disturbed. Sine this
permit is for reclamation only, no new disturbance will be made
and any surrounding resources will be intact.
2.04.5 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF HYDROLOGY AND GEOLOGY
..........................................................................................................................................................................
..... ....................................................................................................................................................... .
................................................................................... ................................ .. ... ...... ..................
• The Fruita Mines reclamation site is located at the base of the
Book Cliffs north of Fruita, Colorado. Average annual
precipitation is below 10 inches per year and the site is very
arid. Precipitation from April to September occurs as high
intensity thunderstorms which can be severe. Runoff from the site
/flows south in normally dry washes to the Colorado River.
^/ The low precipitation and acid conditions result in poor recharge
conditions and groundwater is insignificant and is not used near
the reclaimed area.
~/iy~~a .~iA
