CAMAS proposes mining in phases during a 10± year time period. Prior to mining being undertaken
in any area, where existing fencing doesn't exist and natural barriers wouldn't prevent unauthorized
access to any area being mined, existing fencing will be repaired and new fencing will be installed as
necessary to prevent unauthorized access to any area being mined. The first phase of mining will be
wet mining of Parcel B, wet nesting to create replacement wetlands areas on Parcel A, installation of
the slurry wall on the perimeter of one or both of the D parcels, and setting up the plant site. Prior
to any ground water being exposed, CAMAS will obtain a gravel operation well permit that will
include a substitute water supply plan. After completion of mining of the Parcel B area and creation
of the wetlands on Parcel A, the D Parcels would be mined in 50 to 99± acre phases.
Mining will create nearly vertical I/2' Horizontal (H) to 1' Vertical (V) excavated slopes to the
claystone bedrock, which will be permanently backfilled to 3' Horizontal (H) to 1' Vertical (V) from
the surrounding ground level to the depth of the pit. All mining will also involve stripping and storage
of topsoil to allow, upon completion of mining, a minimum of 6" of topsoil to be replaced on all
slopes above the water line and then revegetated with non-irrigated grasses. The plant site location
for all of the mining will be located in the Parcel C area. The created lake on Parcel B would receive
the plant's wash and process water during the life of the plant's operation. Therefore, it is expected
that most, if not all of this area, would become wetlands area with none or minimal exposed lake
surface upon final reclamation. --;~ a,,e ~~~~,/j„~~y~~eq~/g~~,~, ~a~~
Conveyors will transport all material to the plant site, and all truck export of processed material will
then utilize new entrance onto Brighton Road from the Plant Site. A Traffic Impact Analysis
discussing existing conditions, probable impacts of the proposed traffic generation, and suggested
improvements to mitigate impacts has been prepared and will be submitted to Adams County and
CDOT for review, suggested changes, and approval of necessary permanent and temporary
improvements to be installed by CAMAS. The only truck traffic that might occur from any other -~
portions of the permit azea, might be the occasional direct export of any overburden material, as thisy~jN-f
material wouldn't be processed and could be utilized as general borrow fill material. If the direct //~~~~'
export of borrow material is undertaken from Parcels A, B, D-l, D-2, or D-3, the access points to
be utilized would be from one of the two existing access points onto 104'" Avenue (SH44) or from
a new one onto Mckay Road. These would be temporary operations, and the appropriate temporary
traffic control measures would be undertaken as CDOT and/or Adams County deemed appropriate.
The total expected life of the operation to completion of all reclamation is expected to be 10+_ years.
Upon completion of Warring and reclamation, the 349± acres of property would be utilized as follows.
Sealed Water Storage Reservoir(s) - 23 l+ acres (205± acres of water surface)
Wildlife/Open Space Area - 91± acres
Industrial - 27+ acres
3
