SECTION 02102 -CLEARING, GRUBBING AND TOPSOIL STRIPPING <br /> PART1-GENERAL <br /> 1.01 Description <br /> This work shall consist of clearing, grubbing, removing and disposing of all vege- <br />- tation and debris within the limits of construction, except objects that are desig- <br /> nated to remain or are to be removed in accordance with other sections of these <br /> Specifications. This work shell also include the preservation and protection of all <br />_ vegetation and objects designated to remain. This work shall also consist of <br />~ stripping and stockpiling topsoil as specified. <br />r PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br />. <br /> PART 3 -EXECUTION <br />f 3.01 Preparation <br />j The Contractor shall locate the limits of construction for each item to be <br /> constructed and shall limit his clearing and grubbing activities to this area. <br /> 3.02 General . <br /> <br />L <br /> The area within the limits of construction shall be cleared and grubbed of all sur- <br />r- face objects, trees, stumps, brush, vines, hedgerows, fences, foundations, masonry, <br /> and other obstructions not designated to remain. The Contractor shall not damage <br /> trees, shrubs, vegetation, fences, structures or other items outside the construction <br /> limits. <br />-- 3.03 Topsoil Handling <br /> A. Stripping <br />~. <br /> The area within the limits of construction shall be stripped of topsoil to the <br />r depth indicated by the Test Hole Logs but in no case shall this depth be less <br />L than twelve (12") inches. Topsoil is to be stripped after all clearing and <br /> grubbing operations have been completed. <br /> <br />i B. Stockpiling <br />_ <br />The topsoil, after being removed, shall be immediately redistributed to an <br /> area that has been prepared for topsoil or shall be stockpiled in the area <br /> designated: "Topsoil Storage Area". Stockpiled topsoil shall be placed in the <br /> designated area at a slope no steeper than 4 horizontal to 1 vertical and <br /> shall be protected from wind and water erosion, unnecessary compaction and <br /> contaminants which may lessen the capability of the material to support <br /> <br />vegetation.
