L I_OF=ER
e ~dAT:?
Reference is made to your letter of October 18, 1985
concerning proposals submitted to the Larimer County Planning
Commission, specifically proposal entitled "Nauta Pit No. 2
Special Review."
Union Pacific has reviewed this proposed and has the
following comments:
Union Pacific's right of way adjoins the mining
area on the east and is 100 feet wide, 50 feet either
side of branch track. The mining proposal is to
preserve a 30-foot wide undisturbed buffer zone around
the mining permit area which would prevent further
mining within 80 feet of the centerline of our branch
track. The area adjoining our right of way has been
previously mined and resulted in the existing 0.6 of
an acre pond. There is no objection to the dressing
up of the existing pond embankments with 3:1 slopes
followed by seeding, but recommend that no further
vertical mining occur within 100 feet of the center-
line of our branch track in order to preserve the
stability of our roadbed and right of way.
Thank you for allowing these comments from the Railroad
and should there be any further questions please call.
Very truly yours,
CC: Charles R. and Connie Lou Nauta
832 Wood Street
Fort Collins, Colorado 80521
