h1INING & RECLAMATION PLAN - PIT N0. 2 ~~~
• INTRODUCTION
This pit was opened by the Daniels Sand Division of Transit Mix Concrete
in 1957, on the property west of Highway 83 (Academy Blvd). The deposit
East of Highway 83 was opened and mining commenced in 1980. Fine sand
is being stripped and hauled to Pit No. 1 for reclamation with coarse
material backhauled from Pit No. 1 to produce sand for concrete block
manufacture and gravel by-products.
Mining of this deposit will continue for at least 50 years based on
existing reserves and estimated production rates.
Reclamation will continue on a phased basis. We are presently pumping
• fines into a pond. When the pond is filled the dike will be moved and
areas needing sloping will be pumped and later graded, topsoiled and
seeded. The reclamation of this site will be to a grassland site with
the possibility of conversion to a commercial or industrial use if zoning
permits. The following text and drawings describe the mining and re-
• clamation process.
