Bingham, Gravel Pit
near Paonia, Colorado, Delta County
Dear Mr. Loye,
There is very little vegetation within the boundries, as shown on the
attached plat, of the North Fork of the Gunnison River where gravel
removal is proposed.
Just north of the river flow channel is a rather dense stand of Cotton-
wood and Willow trees of fair height. There is some understory of
grasses and annual weeds. This is outside of the proposed disturbance
area.
South of the river flow channel are small very scattered plants com-
prised of the following:
White blossom sweet clover
Yellow blossom sweet clover
Wild lettuce - Trace
Ragweed
Cockle Burr - Trace
Cottonwood trees (very small and scattered)
Willow (small and scattered)
Reed canary grass -Trace
Muller)
Mustard ,
Sunflower - Trace
Russian Thistle
Licorice
Kochia
Plantain - Trace
These, too, are outside of the proposed gravel removal area.
The soils along the river are identified in the Paonia Area Soil Survey,
January 1981, as 35-Fluvaquents, flooded. A general narrative discri-
ption of the soil is attached as reproduced from page 31 of the Soil
Survey docket.
O 7ne Son Cons ei. ahun Service
s an aVenry of me SCS-AS-~
U D Tarlmem of Apncullwc 10-79
