Hernandez
State of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: MLRD File No.: M-90-098
Perry Pit
Dear Mr. Hernandez:
Mined Land
Reclamation Division
In our review of the report from Asphalt Paving Company, we
wonder if they have adequately provided for the possibility
of a large flood. For example, the size of the once in a
hundred year flood. Along with this, is the setback from
the Platte River to the proposed mined area adequate?
The remaining land after mining as proposed Veaves a very
small area to be grazed. This will provide limited grazing,
We believe the area should have a Conservation Plan and the
grass should be managed. For example, a four inch growth
should 6e left on the grass at all times. Weeds should be
controlled and livestoc4: should not be allowed on the slopes
into the lake. A watering ramp Should be built at one
location into each lake to allow access to the lake by
livestock and large wildlife. This ramp should be 50 to 100
feet wide and should have 4:1 slopes or flatter. The ramp
should extend into the anticipated low water. This area
should then be fenced to keep livestock out of the lake and
off the sideslopes of the lake.
All disturbed or bare areas should be seeded to adapted
grasses. These grasses should be allowed to become well
established before being grazed by livestock.
