• LOUKONEN BROS. S•NE
Ms. Erica Crosby
Div. Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman St. Rm 215
Denver, Co. 80203
RE: Responce to letter of 11/27/00, File No. M-2000-090
~ iiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiii
11 /28/00
RECEIVED
NOV 3 0 2000
Division of Minerals and GeologZ
1. See contents for certified mailing #7099-3220-0005-1025-8867, it contains the
affidavit of publication and proof of mailing to surface owners within 200 feet,
$7099-3220-0005-1025-8874.
2. Map to resent by Flagstaff Surveying.
3. The topsoils are almost non-existent on this site, what little aze there will be mixed with
the overburden and upon reclamation of the site, good topsoil mix materials will be hauled
in from other sources.
As for the estimated 500 tons of dolomite, only a small quantity will be used for filling
and patching holes in the existing roadway as they occur due to traffic. The majority of the
material will be used to reclaim the old dolomite quarry site.
The quarry should have very little affect on the surface waters, we will be working on
the hill sides. This valley may only have a flow of water one or two times a year, the
existing quarry placed rip-rap at the base of the gully to prevent any excessive erosion and
that has been very successful. Overburden storage will be on either side of the gully and
with the high percentage of rock it has there should not be any problem with erosion.
The permit is for 9.9 acres, but at this time we only want to use nine of the acres saving
the .9 acres for adjustments that may be needed in the future by amending the permit.
4. The stockpiles of overburden will serve as storage for overburden and they also will be
used as area for the staging of equipment, palletized materials storage, stone working area.
The areas could be seeded ,but generally the sides of the piles have such a high content of
rock, that most areas would not sustain growth. We would seed the areas that will help to
stablize the overburden piles.
The white areas in the exhibith E-2 aze areas that aze either to steep to quarry or rocky
drop offs to the base of gully. They may not be touched in the quarry process or may be
used only to access the main quarry areas, mirtumial damage allowing for the natural
processes to take place.
More rock could be placed in the channel area as needed to provide a stable channel
configuration.
5. This property is surrounded by Boulder County Open Space, they aze our only
neighboring property owners. We privately own any and all roads/paths on the property.
