I & 36, Township 23 & 24 S, Range 55 W, 6th Prime Meridian, also known as 30000 hwy
194 La ]unto, Co. 81050. I live and farm in the area next to thi roposed site. This is and has always been
solely an agricultural area. Some of~~gqYY concerns are, the site i ' ' t next to a river, and sewer lagoon .
Some of their previous sites have h£~leaking fuel and they umped their scrapped asphalt chunks in
arroyos. The water table is currently so high 1 am concern a digging will cause the water to spread out
and ruin surrounding farmland even more. I am wortied th d piles and dirt they will mine, will blow and
effect our livestock's health as well as other livestock in the area creasing respiratory problems. 1 am
worried abot~{he stagnant pools of water that may fonny~usrrl~(ncreased mosquito breeding grounds.
This mine si lower our property values and make arder to get on and off the road with our farm
equipment. The Otero County Planning Commission voted unanimously to deny their request to have a sand
and gravel operation on this site. They felt this request would not incorporate reasonable means to create an
environment harmonious with that of surrounding properties and that the request will adversely affect the
public health safety and welfaze.
~pSi~ncle~rely,
Kathy Cranson
30943 Hwy 194
LaJunta,Co.81050
U~
^ `~
/~
~2~
