The requirements of 30 <br />CFR 816.13-816.15 will be met for each exploration hole. <br />(i) All facilities and equipment shall be removed from the exploration area promptly when <br />they are no longer needed for exploration, except for those facilities and equipment that <br />the regulatory authority determines may remain to - <br />(1) Provide additional environmental qualirydata; <br />(2) Reduce or control the on- and off-site effecu of the exploration activities; or <br />(3) Facilitate future surface mining and reclamation operations by the person conducting <br />the exploration, under an approved permit. <br />• uTith the exception of piezometers to be installed in some of the drill holes for <br />ground water quality and quantity monitoring, all equipment and facilities related to <br />the exploration program will be removed from the exploration area when they are <br />no longer needed for exploration. Piezometets will typically be installed <br />immediately upon completion of the drillhole prior to the removal of drilling <br />equipment from the exploration area. In some cases, however, where boreholes are <br />retained for subsequent data collection, additional sampling, testing, or equipment <br />installation may occur subsequent to completion of exploration activities. <br />~ Coal exploration shall be conducted in a manner which min;mi~Ps disturbance of the <br />prevailing hydrologic balance, and shall include sediment control measures such as those <br />listed in 30 CFR 816.45 or sedimentation ponds which comply with 30 CFR 816.46.
