Bridalvcil Pit, Fdc No. M-2001-054, New 110 Application, Preliminary Adequacy Review Letter,
Dear Mr. Olin,
I have reviewed the above-named permit application and find it to be well prepared overall This review is for the
combined materials submitted from May to Dcecmbcr, 200 L I have a fcFV qucstiolts about some of the applicatiat
and exhibits, which must be addressed in order to answer the questions and meet [he requirements of the rules 'fhc
questions arc listed below in order of the applicatiou item or exhibit to which they pertain. Please arrange your
wsponses similarly in order to Facllitatc their review and inclusion in the application.
Apglhcation Item 3 - Pcnnittcd Acreaec
I. The figure of 3.64 acres is given, though it does not correspond with the acreage given in the Icgal description in
Exhibit A. If this acrcagc is incorrect please revise it and submit a corrected version of application page enc.
E.xhihit A -Legal Descriation vtd Location Man (Rule 6 3.1)
2. The discrepancy noted about concerning there being two different permit area acreages also pertains to the Icgal
description on the location map. The description gives au acreage of 3.58 acres, though it appears that the metes
and bounds description was prepared for the property parcel originally, and "borrowed" for purposes of this
application. Thcrc is :ut area of 0.06 acres which is unaccounted for in the Iegal description and possibly not
depicted on the adjacent landowner utap. Please make the appropriate corrections to the legal description, so that
all permit area acrcagc is included, and [o the Ivtdowiter map so that it depicts all permit area acrcagc.
3. Is the legal description of this property parcel or permitted area based on a reference point, being dcf ncd as the
section corner located at a distance of 2940.65 feet, at a bearing of S 12'47.38" W from the parcel'? The question
is asked since the "point of beguming" given in the metes and bounds description is not the same parcel corner
indicated by the arrow extending from the abovo-describcd reference point. Plcasc cnsurc that this discrepancy has
not resulted in the permit area being shown in the wrong location on the map.
4. The USGS base map underlying your drawn details of the pcnnit area (on both maps on this sheet) is skewed
about S dcglecs off from the orientation of the map borders and from the north arrow, raising the question about the
accurac}• of the map. Plcasc cnsurc that north is represented accurately and revise the maps if needed.
5. The drawn details of the permit arch overlaying the features on the USGS base do not provide a very close
match, especially concerning [hc highway corridor alignment and the alignment of Bridalvcil Crcck and the
location of its highway crossing. Possible reasons for these differences may be that the highway location has
changed since the USGS base map was made, or it might be due to the 5-degree rotation noted in the paragraph
