' affected lands, which have in part been mined since 1973,
were originally unused river bottomlands.
' No tributary water courses, springs, stock water ponds
or reservoirs are located on the affected land. The Hamp-Bell
ditch runs along the south side of Highway 96 parallel to the
south boundary line of Area 2. The ditch then crosses beneath
the highway at the east end of Area 2. It continues north and
' east and finally northeast on a diagonal to where it crosses
the west end of Area 3 and returns to the river. There are
seve ral places along the highway where water cross es beneath
the highway into a concrete ditch along the south side of

Area 2 (see map Exhibit C-1). Area 2 is a leased, irrigated
' alfalfa field. Area 3, also irrigated, is a tree nursery
operated by a lessee.
