Roger Funston
Mr. Roger Funston's letter of June 8, 1978 was discussed
during his visit to this quarry July 7, 1978. The following
should verify inadequacy items discussed, for record purposes.
1. Item 13 on application form - acreage of affected land.
Item 13 lists 30 acres as affected land. The actual
area outlined in red on the Exhibit C map is about
25 acres to which 5 acres were added to include some
access road and working area at the southeast corner.
Attached is a copy of this Exhibit C map with the af-
fected area (marked in red) revised (8-1-78) to more
accurately outline the affected land. The revised out-
line of quarry area measures about 28 acres, leaving
two acres as ample to cover outside roadways, old
crushed material, storage piles, and truck scale area
as suggested by Mr. Funston. The 30 acres of designated
affected land are expected to provide an 8-12 years
supply of limestone. Prior to the end of that period,
better maps and information will be available for a
life of the mine permit application.
2:. Exhibit D - Mining Plan
A. As stated in the Mining Plan and indicated in the
attached letter from Glen McCarty, District Soil
Conservation Service Conservationist, little, if
any, soil can be saved because of the extr~amely
rocky surface. Pockets of soil, when encountered
in sufficient amounts, will be moved directly to
grade depleted areas downhill from areas blzing quarried.
