In summary, the haul road (south of the Meadows No. 1 explosive storage
area), the explosive storage areas, the mine pit, and topsoil stockpiles (Map
20) were reclaimed and revegetated in accordance with State regulations and the
approved reclamation plan. The amount of seeds, the application rates, and the
areas seeded are summarized on Table 2.05.4-5. In addition, shrubs and trees
were transplanted from an area adjacent to the reclaimed topsoil stockpile
located at the southeast border of the permit area; and additional shrubs were
obtained from the area above the reclaimed scoria pit highwall. These areas
were selected because existing trees were removed during slope reduction and
grading activities. Transplant material, whenever possible, was placed on the
backfilled areas in cluster groupings with an approximate size of 10 feet by 30
feet. Prior to tree transplant activities, CMLRD personnel were informed and
requested to participate in supervising this revegetation activity. Trees were
• transplanted under direction of Sun Coal Company's designated reclamation super-
visor to ensure tree and shrub relocation activities were carried out to mini-
mize damage to roots and limbs while attempting to comply with CMLRD tree
transplant methodology.

- 330 - (Rev. 5/86)
