Page 2
RECLAMATION PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Grading
Grading will be carried on so as to create a final topography
appropriate for future mining, wildlife habitat, and use as winter
rangeland. {The angle of regraded slopes will not be conspicuously
different than the angles of slopes in the surrounding terrain.
That is, regrading will be carried on so as to blend in the
affected area with the surrounding topography as well as possible
without creating unnecessarily high safety, erosion, etc., hazards.
At the JD-6 Mine, the only area Cotter is both responsible for and
will require grading is the waste dump area as labelled on Exhibit
C-2.} Backfilling and grading will be completed as soon as
feasible after the mining process which is currently projected to
be fifteen to twenty years from now. All refuse will be hauled
away from the mine site.
Drill sites will be plugged with a device approved by the
Bureau of Land Management. Cuttings piles will be buried and/or
spread thin and revegetated. Adits and shafts will be sealed
permanently providing conditions stipulated in the lease agreement
are satisfied.
{At the permanent closing of the mine, venthole fans will be
dismantled and removed, the hole will be plugged by blasting, the
concrete pad removed, and the area will be reseeded.}
