/ I tend to agree with the principles of "Grandfathered Rights", but they should be
limited to the original property, without expansion to additional property for
which the rights were not intended. The current situation related to the proposed
Quarry expansion, as I understand it, is: It was recently determined that no person
legally secured the Mineral Rights of properties adjoining the currently existing
Quarry. The Lookonen Brothers took action to secure the Mineral Rights and
now feel entitled to expand the Quarry. If the Quarry were limited to only the
original property boundaries, at least there would be a finite impact in terms of
- - -time and area. - - - ~-- - -- _ - ---- - - -- - --
/ If expansion of the Quarry is permitted, the scenic quality of the property around
my property will be diminished. The value of my property will decrease or in the
best case, retain its current value -but not increase in value. The same can be
said for other property owners within eyesight of the proposed Quarry expansion.
Stated another way: A small handful of people financially gain at the expense of a
significant number of other property owners.
If a simultaneous quanying/reclamationprocws can be implemented that concurrently
restores the land to its current elevation, contour and appeazance at the same rate the
stone is being removed; does not increase the noise level of the area; does not increase
the traffic going past the entrance to my residence; and, does not negatively impact the
value of my properly, then I withdraw my objection to the proposed Quarry expansion.
Otherwise, I vigorously object to the proposed Quarry expansion!
Sincerely,
William Taylor ~ '- -' - -- -
Cc: R. Boge, Esq.
