12. Other Changes, Additions, or Observations: Dirt from three shovel nrobes and two badger back dirt piles
in the area of deposition was shifted through Y," screen. The depth of the probes varied from 35cm to
60cm depending on their location. Probe #1 was placed near the toe edge and is the most shallow with
the bottom becoming extremely hard and difficult to penetrate with a shovel. A probe on the side slope
(#2) and one near the crest 1#3), of the deposition area, were deeper and did not encounter hard dirt until
approaching the level of the deflated surface. Two rounded river cobbles were recovered from probe #2
which encountered hard dirt at approximately 45cm. These had not been altered in env fashion. Probe
#3 was dug to 60cm and did not encounter hard soil: but it was still about the lower level of probe #1.
No cultural material was recovered from the shovel probes or the back dirt piles.

Explain: The only artifact observed, on the east side of the railroad during the current Proiect, was the
mano. There are numerous badger back dirt piles scattered across the site. both in deflated portions and
areas of deposition, but no artifacts were observed in these areas. Since no additional artifacts ware
recovered during this limited testing phase and the surface artifacts are very limited, it is recommended
that the site be evaluated as not eligible for the National Register.
