Re: Twentymile Coal Mining Notice of Intent to Explore, 2005-2007 Exploration Program
Dear Mr. Burnell:
Twentymile Coal Company (TEC) is submitting this Notice of Intent (NOI) to allow for the drilling of up to ten
exploration drillholes and establishment of five seismic lines in the Twentymile Park Basin and within the
current Foidel Creek Mine Pemrit Boundary, as shown on the attached maps. The proposed exploration work
will assist TCC in defining the extent of mining in the northern and western mining districts.
The proposed 2005-07 exploration program involves:
• Construction of ten (10) drill pads (each 150 ft by 150 ft)
• Completion often (10) coreholes and associated down-hole geophysical surveys
• Completion of seismic surveys along five (5) seismic lines
• Abandonment, plugging, and sealing of exploration holes, and reclamation ofdrill-sites
This NOI application includes the following information:
• Parts I-III of the CDMG NOI form and corresponding explanatory text
• Two (2) maps illustrating the proposed exploration azeas
• The project reclamation bonding cost estimate
• A cultural resource report summarizing the results of surveys of surface disturbance azeas potentially
affected by the proposed exploration activities
• A letter agreement with the surface landowner
The cultural resource surveys did not identify any potentially impacted resources requiring mitigation. Previous
wildlife and T&E surveys (as documented in Section 2.04-11 of the Twentymile PAP) indicate that the Foidel
Creek Mine Permit Area does not include designated critical habitat, and no listed species occur within the
Permit Area.
Reclamation will involve plugging and sealing coreholes, back£]ling mud pits, regrading drill pads, and topsoil
replacement and seeding. In reference to roads, if constructed, reclamation activities will include topsoil
replacement and seeding. The estimated cost for the reclamation activities is approximately 533,890, for
purposes of bonding.
With regards to the proposed reclamation seed mixture, all of the potential surface disturbance areas are
improved pasture and not native rangeland. The proposed reclamation seed mixture is appropriarte for these
types of azeas and has been developed in cooperation with, reviewed, and accepted by landowners, Mr. Frank
Camilletti, and Cross Mountain Ranch, prior to the 2003 exploration program.
