• upgradient of the Lux domestic well. Two new wells, GD3 and II
GF11, were installed during duly, 1988 in the backfill material
upgradient of native OR aquifer wells GD2 and GF6, respectively.
Table 1-1 presents basic well data for all wells monitored in
1988.
Several springs have also been monitored to further define
the ground-water quality. Cottonwood Spring, West Buzzard and No
Name Seeps have been sampled to define ground-water quality
discharging from the backfill aquifers in these areas. Observed
discharges during May, September and November, 1988 at Cottonwood
Spring were 2.6 gpm, 2.B gpm and 2.7 gpm, respectively. The West
Buzzard Seep was found to be flowing at approximately 1B gpm in
• May. The West Buzzard Seep is located upstream near the NPDES
006 site. The No Name Seep is located near well GFS at the
contact of the undisturbed overburden and the backfilled spoil.
No Name Seep was observed flowing at 3.5 gpm in May. No flows
were observed during the West Buzzard site visits in September
and November. Pond water at the West Buzzard Seep was used for
water quality during September and November.
The Colt Seep had no data for 1988 as flow had stopped due
to the C pit dewatering in 1988 and was subsequently mined
through.
Table 1-2 presents the mine discharge for the Trapper Mine
for 1988. This data shows that, on an average, approximately B0
gpm was pumped from the Trapper Mine in 1988. This data is
. useful in interpreting water-level changes.
Surface-water flow and quality have been monitored at the
1-2
