• system.
Well GD3 was installed in the backfill material upgradient
of well GD2 in D pit during July 1988. Figure A-10 presents the
plat of data collected from well GD3. The rising water levels in
the backfill material near well GD3 indicate that this area has
yet to stabilize after mining.
Figures A-I1, A-12 and A-13 present the water-level changes
in the OR, HI, and Third and Second White Sandstone aquifers,
respectively, at the GE site. Water levels in the OR and HI
aquifers have risen in 1988. Levels in the Third and Second
White Sandstone aquifer rose above the 1987 levels during 1988,
but the 1988 levels showed little change during the year. Water-
level rises have been much less in the Third and Second White
• Mi
h
f
i
ng
as
er.
n
Sandstone and the greatest in the GR aqui
occurred within 2000 feet of these wells in an adjacent
underground permit, while mining in Trapper's C pit was
approximately 6000 feet from these wells. The majority of the
drawdowns observed at these wells were probably not from Trapper
Mine dewatering. The reduction in the rate of recovery of water
level should gradually occur as the length of time since
dewatering increases. This is likely the cause of the slower
rates of water-level recovery in the GE wells, but the decline in
precipitation and/or the dewatering that started in the C pit in
1988 could also be the cause.
Water levels in the GF wells are tabulated in Tables A-4, A-
• 5 and A-6 of Appendix A. Wells GF1 and GF3 are flowing wells,
while the casing on well GF2 was extended in 1985 so it is no
2-7
