2.0 GROUND-WATER LEVELS AND AQUIFER PROPERTIES
Water levels or water pressure have been measured in 29
wells at Trapper Mine. Wells GF1, GF3, GD2, GP1, GP3 and GP4 are
flowing wells and pressure readings on these wells have been
converted to static water head in feet above land surface. Well
GD1 is not measured for water level because a pump is installed
in this well. New monitoring wells GD3, GF11 and Glux-1 were
installed in 1988. Data from these wells is included in this
report.
The location of the monitoring wells is shown on Map No.
2-1. Wells GD1 and GFI are completed in the Twenty Mile
Sandsone, while well GF2 is completed below the R coal in the U
aquifer system. Seven wells, GA1, GE1, GD2, GF6, GP1, GPS and
• GP6 are used to monitor the OR aquifer. Wells GA2, GB1, GF3,
GP2, GP4 and GPB are used to monitor the KLM aquifer. Six
wells, GBS, GC1, GE2, GF4 , GP3 and GP7 are used to observe

changes in the HI aquifer. Wells GB2, GC2, P8, 81-03a and GP9
are used to monitor the Third White Sandstone aquifer. Wells GE3
and PS are completed in the Second White Sandstone between the G
and F coals, while Glux-1 is used to monitor the First White
Sandstone. Well P3 is perforated in the Lewis Shale. Four
alluvial wells, GC3, P1, J1 and COY are used to monitor the
Flume, Pyeatt, Johnson and Flume alluvium. Wells GFS and GF7 are
completed in the backfill aquifer in an area where the HI seams
were mined. Wells GD3 and GF11 were completed in backfill
aquifers in areas where the OR aquifer was mined.
•
2-1
