~ 2.05.3 (6)
• During topsoil and loose overburden removal, the dozers and
scrapers will bench down (see illustration #1). The remaining
overburden will be removed by wheeled loaders and trucks. If
necessary, the overburden will be blasted. The benches wil'1
be cut in advance of the pit operations minimizing any danger
from equipment working along the top of the highwall or of
any material sliding or falling over the highwall. A drainage
ditch around the mine perimeter will divert runoff from the
pit area. No ground water has been encountered in exploratory
drilling and presents no safety hazards.
Drilling will be with the Ingersoll-Rand rotary drill. All
drill holes will be 6; inches in diameter and will be vertical.
•B lasting, when necessary, will be done with dynamite, prell,
prima cord, safety fuse and caps.
Location of haul roads will change as pit operations progress.
Haulroads will be of adequate width and appropriate berms will
be placed where necessary. Haulroad slopes will not exceed
68 grades.
Every morning before work commences in the mine all work areas
are visually inspected and reported in the mine foreman's log.
Any unsafe conditions will be corrected.
~~ •~ 267
