RRvised
July 28, 1982
2.OS.3(6) Overburden - Preface
This section consists of: the original permit material dealing with the
handling of the overburden; a revision dealing with the blasting pattern; and
overburden calculations for the 1982(2) and 1983(36) pits.
Based on the hole drilled near the 1982(2) pit during the SOAP program,
overburden thickness above the Cameron seam was found to be on the order of 70
feet (Table 2.04.6-3). Because of the location of the hole, this represents a
maximum cover. At the outcrop, the overburden is minimal. Thus, in
overburden calculations an average thickness of 35 feet has been used.
The same overburden thickness is an appropriate estimate for the 1983(38) pit.
In this pit the "A" Coal seam will be mined. The "A" Coal seam is located
above the Lenox and the Cameron seam.

i
265
