2.3 Spillway Calculations of Pond "A" <br />Principal Spillway <br />In order to provide sufficient detention time, a gated <br />8-inch cast iron pipe will be used for the principal <br />spillway (Map JFSA-3). <br />Emergency Spillway <br />The emergency spillway crest elevation is at the upper <br />limit of the storage volume provided for the 10-year, <br />24-hour storm event (Figure 2.2). It must pass the <br />design flow, 25-year, 24-hour peak (24 cfs) so that <br />the maximum water surface elevation is one foot or more <br />below the top of the embankment. The length of the over- <br />flow spillway must therefore be: <br />Q CLH3/2 <br />L 24/3(.9)1'5 ,= 10 feet <br />2.4 Erosion Control <br />Riprap has been provided for overflow spillways and pipe <br />outlets and is shown on Maps JFSA-2 and JFSA-3. <br /> <br /> <br />11 " neJ~. <br />
