Box 907
Salida, Colorado 81201
RE: Permit Application, Chaffee County, Our File ;ISG-77-170
Dear Sirs:
Upon reviewing your application for a Mining and Reclamation Perr~it,
dated August 3, 1977, the staff has determined that it is deficient
under the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act, Article 32 of Title
34, C.R.S. 1973, as amended (1976 Sess. Laws - H.B. 1065).
The following items must be submitted in order for the application
to be considered as filed:
1. A vegetation map - consult the Soil Conservation Service
concerning this.
2. Your reclamation plan should state that you will stock-
pile remaining topsoil - where and how much.
• 3. You must have a reclamation map which shows in detail
what is to be done - stages - where you will start,
and so forth.
4. You need to address water resources better - such as type
of barrier from river - wet or dry pit - and how you caiii
minimize insiltation and pollution of stream.
5. Need better soils information - will soils support vege-
tation when reclamation begins? Consult the Soil Conser-
vation Service concerning this.
6. The County has not approved this yet - we know it's zoned
industrial, but can you mine sand and gravel. We need a
letter from the County stating their approval of your
operation.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free
to call this office. As the Reclamation Specialist for your area,
I will be glad to assist you.
~ _ j
~cerely, ~~ -
James L. Schmeiding
Reclamation Specialist r I
JLS/bjs
